Every successful business starts with an idea. Maybe it's a solution to a common problem, a new service people need, or a better way to do something that already exists. If you have a great business idea, you're already one step ahead — but an idea alone is not enough.
Talk to real potential customers before you build anything
It is tempting to jump straight to building. Instead, spend a week talking to 10-15 people who represent your target customer. Ask about their current problem and how they solve it today, not whether they like your idea — people are polite, and polite answers do not validate a business.
Build the smallest version that proves the idea
You do not need a full platform to test a concept. A simple landing page, a manual process behind the scenes, or a basic app with one core feature can tell you whether people will actually use — and pay for — what you are building.
Know your numbers before you scale
What does it cost you to acquire a customer? What do they pay you, and how often? A great idea with numbers that do not work is still a business that will struggle. Get comfortable with these numbers early, even with rough estimates.
Once you have validated demand and have a basic sense of your economics, that is the right time to invest in a properly built product — not before.
